If you have found this site, then perhaps you are looking for a way to resolve something in your life, from a simple phobia to symptoms of anxiety or depression.

Life is challenging and many of us question whether we are good enough, smart enough or beautiful enough. No matter how good our relationship is, we wonder if there isn’t something more ‘out there’.  And if our relationships are not working, then we need to get a new perspective and understanding of what is going on. The more we feel we are not good enough, a failure in life or unlovable, the more we turn to addictive substances or behaviours to mask our pain without realising it.

Show me the person who does not suffer from one addiction or another, for example, coffee, alcohol, drugs (prescription or otherwise) and/or to behaviours  such as overworking, anger, despair, social phobia, internet etc.  All these tell-tale signs can point to an identity crisis; we don’t know who we really are deep down, what our values are or where we want to go in life.

  • We may have felt overwhelmed during our school years by the challenges of the school curriculum, bullying or circumstances at home.
  • Or fearful of the competitive nature of our working life, where difficult relationships and the endless drive for productivity derails our work/life/balance.
  • Even on retirement when our busy life is over and we imagine a life of leisure, we are faced with insignificance, loss of social contact, a question about our meaning and purpose in life.
  • Losing family and friends through bereavement at any stage in life can stop us in our tracks and ask the meaningful questions ‘what’s it all about?’ before returning to whatever addiction and mindlessness that gets us through the day.

If you want to stop, look and take action, then give me a call. I may not have all the answers but I have a good non-judgemental listening ear and I believe that any behaviour we have adopted is often only a defence mechanism for the circumstances in which we found ourselves.
